How we handle your information
Housing Navigator is a public directory. We try to collect as little personal information as possible — and to be honest about what we do collect.

What we collect
Browsing the public directory does not require an account. We do not ask for your name, address, income, or household details to view resources or waitlists.
If you create an account, Supabase stores your email, login data, optional display name and home county, saved resources, waitlist follows, and notification preferences. If you contact us, we keep the message and contact information you choose to share so we can reply and follow up.
Analytics and cookies
We use a small amount of standard browser storage to remember UI choices (for example, which county you last filtered to) so the site feels less repetitive across visits. This information stays in your browser.
We use PostHog in cookieless mode to count visits to a short list of public pages. Page-view events do not include full URLs, search terms, form values, or resource or waitlist selections, and are not sent from account, dashboard, or admin pages. Automatic click tracking, user profiles, session replay, heatmaps, and vendor error capture are disabled. If the app crashes, we send only a coarse error category and page group — never the error message, stack trace, full URL, form value, or account information. The browser's Do Not Track setting is respected.
Cloudflare Turnstile helps protect sign-in, signup, password reset, and admin login from automated abuse. Cloudflare processes browser, device, and network signals needed to decide whether a request is likely human; Housing Navigator receives a short-lived verification token rather than a traditional puzzle response.
Accounts and authentication
Public accounts and the volunteer admin area use Supabase Auth. Passwords are handled by Supabase rather than stored in the Housing Navigator application database. Admin tools require both a valid account and membership in our admin allowlist.
You can browse the public directory without an account. An account is needed only for personal features such as saving resources, following waitlists, and managing notifications.
Resource accuracy
The directory is maintained by volunteers and partner organizations. Information about programs, waitlists, eligibility, and openings changes frequently. We label each entry with a "last verified" date so you can see how fresh it is.
Listing a program on Housing Navigator does not guarantee availability, eligibility, or funding. Always confirm directly with the agency before relying on a service.
